Hi there, fellow empty nester! So, the kids have flown the coop, and now you're left with a quieter house and maybe a little extra time on your hands. But fear not! This is the perfect opportunity to expand our social circle and cultivate new friendships. Here are seven tips to help you do just that:

1. Join Clubs or Groups

Whether it's a book club, hiking group, or cooking class, joining clubs or groups based on your interests is a great way to meet like-minded individuals. If you can’t find the group you are looking for, you could always start it yourself. Use local Facebook Community Groups to inquire and advertise.

2. Attend Community Events

Keep an eye out for local events and gatherings in your area. Whether it's a farmers' market, art festival, or charity fundraiser, these events provide excellent opportunities to meet new people.

3. Volunteer

Get involved in your community by volunteering for causes you're passionate about. Not only will you make a positive impact, but you'll also meet other compassionate individuals who can become friends. I used to volunteer when my children were little. It’s incredibly rewarding.

4. Take Classes

Sign up for classes or workshops to learn something new. Whether it's painting, pottery, or dancing, taking classes is a fun way to meet people with similar interests, and that’s how friendships start.

5. Embrace Technology

Don't underestimate the power of technology! Join social media groups, online forums, or even dating apps geared towards making new friends. Websites like Meet Up are fantastic. Check them out and see what is happening in your area.

6. Reach Out to Old Friends

Reconnect with old friends from your past. You never know, they may be in a similar stage of life and eager to reconnect. You could always arrange a school re-union. Use Facebook to find friends from the past that you’ve lost touch with. Maybe your Mum or a family member is still in contact with someone who can help.

7. Be Open and Approachable

Finally, remember to be open and approachable. Strike up conversations with people you encounter in your daily life, whether it's at the grocery store, gym, or neighbourhood park. If conversation is too hard try a smile, they are contagious. If you hand them out you’re sure to get some back.

So, there you have it, fellow empty nesters! With these seven tips, you'll be well on your way to expanding your social circle and cultivating new friendships in no time. Embrace this exciting chapter with open arms, and who knows? You might just meet your new best friend along the way. I’d love you to reach out. We’re in the same boat as you. Come connect in our
